Freedom of Assembly?

In downtown LA, a new community space set up by the local chapter of Food Not Bombs (a group committed to “sharing free vegetarian food with hungry people and protesting war and poverty”) was playing host to a hip hop concert last Sunday night. The goal was to raise money for an upcoming anarchist bookfair. Guests and performers at the event were affiliated with a variety of radical community organizing initiatives , including supporters of Copwatch LA Guerrilla, a group that monitors police activity in communities where there have been reports of police brutality and harassment. It appears this gathering did not sit well with the LAPD, who, according to witnesses, used the pretext of a stolen beer to raid the event. Several people where arrested and detained.
