Author of “In Our Mothers’ House” Speaks

Patricia Polacco, the prolific children’s book author who wrote In Our Mothers’ House answered NCAC’s questions about the objections which have recently been raised in Davis County, UT. Complaints have centered around the non-traditional nature of the family depicted in the book and the fact that the family has two moms.

    I hope that the Davis County Schools in Utah reconsider. This action is just another example of oppression by religions on society that prohibit and limit children from gleaning knowledge and insight in human behaviors that will allow them to cope and function in a world that isn’t going to fit into a “cookie cutter” ideal in which they were raised. I feel bad for the children in Davis County, Utah.
